Starting the Vision

May 4, 2003 was a historical day in the life of West Georgia Worship Center. It was the day the dream God gave me was birthed into existence. Our church doors opened at the Chatter Box Café with 22 people in attendance. I knew that if God intended this to grow then he would have to open another door. One May 18 2003 we moved into the Garner Feed and Seed store in Buchanan.

With our church growing by leaps and bounds, we quickly ran out of space for our congregation. God had opened an opportunity for us to purchase land on the Buchanan bypass and we were blessed to pay it off before our third move. Since we were not ready to build, we looked for a new place. A doctor’s office in Bremen was our third location and with much prayer and discussion we decided to start building on our land.

A building project always brings many decisions and, in our case, it brought many heartaches and disappointments from the bank turning us down for the money. But God was still in the miracle working business and we found Peoples bank in Bremen, now known as American Commerce Bank,  who gladly took a chance on us. While building our church the landlord at the doctor’s office shared with us that we had to move because the doctor was taking the building back over.

This seemed to be an impossible task because we had nowhere to go since our church wasn’t ready. But once again God worked it out and we moved into an almost finished church. In July of 2020 we will move into our fourth location which is built right behind the present church. That church building has been completely renovated and is now our education building for all our youth classes and activities. God has blessed West Georgia Worship Center with some of the best people and we were simply out of room. Our new sanctuary, the Worship Center, will be able to supply us just what we need for now and when the time comes then, we will celebrate move number 5. One thing we do know as a church and that is, Little is much when God is in it. We give him all honor and glory because it has always been about him.

But here we are in 2024 and West Georgia Worship Center is still on the move. We have been in our new Sanctuary over 3 years and have seen God move in  mighty ways. We have experienced many seasons of changes and waiting, people have come and gone but God has been faithful. We are in Revival as the power of the Hoy Ghost moves in our services.

I am honored, as is my wife Regina, to be leading this congregation into this new season along with all our leaders and members. As we continue on this wonderful journey, we can be excited as we go further in the direction God has for WGWC.  To God be all the Glory!
