A Word from the Pastor

James 5:16 says that the effectual, fervent, prayer of a righteous man availeth much. There is so much that could be said about this one part of this scripture, but today I want to share with you that we can all pray and see things change. The only way our prayers are going to be effectual is, we first have to have a prayer life.

We don’t need to just pray when it’s convenient, but we need to pray when things are good or bad, we must have a desire to make time to pray. Funny how we find time for everything else but prayer. It’s time to understand that prayer will only change a situation if we practice it and pray.

My Mother had a prayer life. She wasn’t perfect but she truly knew how to pray. She would tell you it was something that had to be practiced in order to bring to perfection. Practice gets you better in many areas, why can’t we do that in our prayer life?

My Mother made it a priority to pray,  she didn’t have much on this earth but she had  hidden treasures in her prayer journals. She kept one between her mattress. This last one she started was a  blue composition notebook that she had written all the prayer request  that had been given to her and she prayed for each request.

On the day God took her home, she had logged in her journal that she had prayed two and a half hours and in that early morning of April 15, 2019, I would say that she and God were having such a good conversation that He decided He would bring her on home so they could finish in person. I still have that blue notebook and I have used it for sermon notes. I hope to one day leave this legacy to my children and grandchildren as my Mother left it for her children.

Practice does make perfect so get busy my friends. There is Power in Prayer!

In Christ Service,
Pastor Ricky
